The 5 Step Prayer Model For Kids
(summary of booklet)
To help kids learn how to pray for others like Jesus did — with love, courage, and the help of the Holy Spirit.
Step 1: ASK
Say: “How can I pray for you?”
Be brave and ask someone what they’d like prayer for.
Bible story: Peter and John meet the man who couldn’t walk (Acts 3:1–6).
Memory verse: “Be strong and courageous! … For the Lord your God is with you.” — Joshua 1:9
Activity idea: Role-play asking and praying for a friend or family member.
Step 2: INVITE
Say: “Holy Spirit, please come.”
Invite the Holy Spirit to bring power and love.
Bible story: Peter says, “In the name of Jesus, get up and walk.” (Acts 3:4–6)
Memory verse: “The Holy Spirit … will teach you all things.” — John 14:26
Activity idea: Sit quietly and notice how it feels to invite the Holy Spirit.
Step 3: PRAY
Say: “Dear God, please help my friend.”
Watch and listen to what God might be showing you as you pray.
Bible story: Peter prays for healing (Acts 3:5–6).
Memory verse: “Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things.” — Psalm 119:18
Activity idea: pair up, share a simple need, and pray for each other.
Step 4: CHECK
Say: “What is God doing?”
Ask how the person feels after prayer. Notice if anything has changed.
Bible story: The man walks, jumps, and praises God (Acts 3:7–8).
Memory verse: “See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?” — Isaiah 43:19
Activity idea: Practice asking, “How do you feel now?” and listening to the answer.
Step 5: PLAN
Say: “Let’s pray again sometime.”
Keep praying! Sometimes God answers right away, and sometimes slowly.
Bible story: Peter explains God’s power to the crowd (Acts 3:9–12a).
Memory verse: “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” — James 5:16 (optional tie-in)
Activity idea: Create a “prayer list” and plan to follow up next week.

Everyone can pray!
The Holy Spirit helps us hear and follow God.
