Lend Your Voice!
A key part of our New Testament Journey is our audio New Testament. This is read by Croydon Vineyard, for Croydon Vineyard! It’s brought such a freshness to hear the words of the New Testament from so many different people in the church!
This project is ongoing, and we would love as many different people from the church as possible to join in! If you are happy to lend your voice - we’d love to hear it!
Here’s how you can ‘lend your voice’:
Go to this page - pick a chapter that has not yet been recorded (shown by having no name next to it)
Find the NIV version of the chapter. You can find that online if you need it, for example at www.biblegateway.com
Find a good place to record i.e. enclosed space, minimal outside noise, ‘soft’ walls (e.g. carpet and curtains), banish the pets (goldfish can stay)
Use a decent mic… we aren’t looking for recording studio quality… a newish smartphone should do it, but if you have a mic do use it.
Make sure you’re stood or sat comfortably and your clothing won’t make noises up against the microphone.
Say the chapter number to start e.g. (“chapter nine”)
Read the chapter. Don’t include verse numbers or paragraph headings.
If you make a mistake you do not need to start again, simply go back to the beginning of the verse or sentence and repeat. We will edit out simple mistakes and repetitions for you. Similarly, if a background noise is intrusive, simply repeat the part and continue. You do not need to submit a perfect take - we just need all of it there!
A few little tips - remember to breath! Listen at bible gateway if you’re unfamiliar with names or aren’t sure how to say a word; if unsure about sound just re-record the section; relax and enjoy it!
Send the audio file to andy@croydonvineyard.org.uk The file size should be small enough to email, but you can use a file sharing service like wetransfer if necessary.
Once sent, put your name next to the chapter on the google sheet to mark as ‘read’ so we don’t double up.
This is a collective, fun community project AND it’s spiritual warfare! We know the word is living and active and good things happen as we declare it, hear it, and live it!
1 Timothy 4:13 exhorts us:
“Devote yourself to the public reading of scripture”
Let’s do this!
