Contending for a spiritual awakening

We have been both so proud and so moved by the stories of so many of you giving yourselves to prayer and fasting for a spiritual awakening. For many of us it was the first time for a long time - or ever - that we had chosen to fast and pray for such a thing. Of course, these days feel like hard work. When we pray and fast we taste something of the barrenness of life without the bread of life, we experience something of our powerlessness to shift the spiritual forces that hold people captive. But through this painful wrestling we mysteriously see God begin do what he already wanted to do; God breathes on others; God whispers their names; God awakens their souls. 

We are beginning to hear a few stories of awakening in our midst. If we contend for more, we are convinced that that trickle will turn into a stream, and - we pray - that stream into a flood.

And so we want to "go again". This time we are setting aside the whole of Lent (22 Feb - 8 Apr) as a season of prayer and fasting for Spiritual Awakening. It is our hope that each Monday to Saturday 5 people will sign up on our website to commit to pray and fast for a mighty move of God. People might want to sign up for 1 day out of the 40, or for one day a week, or even for more than that. If we have 5 people pray and fast on each of the 40 days in lent we will see 200 days of interceding for awakening. That would be quite amazing.

And also during Lent a crazy group of intercessors have decided to descend on the Harvest Centre from 7.00am-8.00am each Wednesday morning to cry out to God for him to move in our midst. They will be ordinary people calling on our extraordinary God to bring a great awakening to Croydon and beyond. We would love you to consider joining them, even if it is popping for 5 minutes while you munch your coco pops on the way to work - or via zoom which we plan to link the meeting to. Of course, following Jesus isn't just about the hard work of contending. We are also very keen that you enjoy the fullness of life that we already have in Jesus. And so we'd love you to check out the huge range of events that are listed below. At every one of them there will be great people, doing fun things and our personal opinion is that you'd be crazy not to join them.
