Tots and Pebbles - July Theme and activities to do at home
This month, we’re exploring “God’s Good News – The Bible!” with your little ones. Each week at church, your child will discover that the Bible isn’t just a big book — it’s God’s true story that helps their hearts grow strong, kind, and full of light!
Key Truth: The Bible is God’s true story!
Verse: “It is useful for teaching us what is true.” — 2 Timothy 3:16 NIRV
Say With Me: The Bible is God’s true story!
Week 1 – The Bible Teaches Me!
Bible School Game
Say a Bible truth (e.g., “God loves me!”) and let your child repeat it.
Use a children’s Bible or the Bible App for visuals.
Cheer after each one like they’re graduating Bible School!
💬 Ask: “What’s something true you know about God?”
🙏 Pray: “Thank You, God, for the Bible that teaches us about You!”
Week 2 – The Bible Feeds My Heart
Feed Your Heart Game
Draw a heart on paper and place cereal or raisins nearby.
Read a “truth” from the list below. If it’s true, feed it to the heart. If it’s not, say “Yuck!” and leave it out.
✅ “Jesus makes me God’s friend.”
🚫 “God is far away.”
✅ “God is always with me.”
💬 Ask: “What’s something yummy you can feed your heart from the Bible?”
🙏 Pray: “God, thank You that Your Word feeds our hearts with good truth!”
Week 3 – The Bible Lights the Way
Light Switch Game
Turn off the light and close the Bible. Say, “When I don’t read God’s Word, it’s hard to see what’s true.”
Open the Bible and turn the light on. Say, “God’s Word helps my heart see clearly!”
💬 Ask: “How does the Bible help your heart?”
🙏 Pray: “God, help us turn on the light in our hearts with Your Word!”
Week 4 – The Bible is Always Good News
Spoon Feeding Game
Grab a spoon and say what your heart is “hungry” for (e.g., kindness, peace, forgiveness).
Pretend to scoop that truth from the Bible and “feed” it to your heart.
Use the “Hungry List”:
🍎 Peace
🍎 Joy
🍎 Truth
🍎 Forgiveness
🍎 Strength
💬 Ask: “What is your heart hungry for today?”
🙏 Pray: “Jesus, thank You for filling our hearts with everything we need!”
We’ve been learning all about how “The Bible is God’s true story, and it helps my heart grow strong.” Parents, we encourage you take on this truth for yourself as well over this month. Make time for God’s word and let your kids see your journey with scripture, that is the best way to show them what it looks like to love the word of God and wrestle with it’s truths and apply them to your life.
