Rocks and Geodes - Jan-Feb
Over the next couple months , your child will be learning about the peace that comes from following Jesus. This is not just about feeling happy all the time, but about trusting God when things are going well and when things aren’t. Peace is a gift Jesus gives us and as we grow in knowing His peace, we can become peacemakers to those we meet along the way!
Here’s some at-home resources for you over the next couple months:
8 day Bible Reading Plan on peace LINK
Prayer resources for children LINK as we press into spiritual awakening as a church
Chat and Catch (prayer and prophecy) LINK how to guide and resources
Below are some ways you can engage from home each week and see what’s coming up.
Peace Week 1- Jan 18th – Jesus Gives Us Peace
Scripture: John 14:27 (NLT)
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart…”
Talk About It
Ask your child:
What games or activities did you play at church this week?
What made you laugh at church?
When we follow Jesus, He gives us peace. What do you think peace from Jesus feels like?
Try This at Home
Sit together and take three slow, deep breaths.
Explain that Jesus’ peace helps our hearts and minds feel safe and calm, even when things feel big or confusing.
You could say: “Jesus gives us a peace the world can’t give.”
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for giving us Your peace. Help our hearts and minds feel calm and safe with You. Amen.
Peace Week 2 - Jan 25– Talking to God Brings Peace
Scripture: Philippians 4:6–7 (NIRV)
“…tell God about everything… Then God’s peace will watch over your hearts and your minds.”
Talk About It
Ask your child:
What do you remember seeing at church this week?
How did you feel talking with friends in your small group?
What is something you could tell God about to help your heart feel peaceful?
Try This at Home
Have a short “talk to God” moment together.
Take turns saying one thing you’re thankful for and one thing you want to give to God.
Remind your child that God loves hearing everything we want to share.
Prayer
God, thank You that we can talk to You about everything. Please fill our hearts and minds with Your peace. Amen.
Week 1 fun - Feb 1 - Rodeo, games and more!
Why not invite a friend! It’ll be a lovely way to introduce them to church!
Peace Week 3 - Feb 8 – Trusting God When We Feel Stormy
Scripture: Isaiah 26:3 (NLT)
“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you…”
Talk About It
Ask your child:
What do you remember playing or doing at church?
How did you feel when you played with friends?
When a kid feels stormy inside, what do you think can help them feel God’s peace?
Try This at Home
Pretend to make a storm using your hands and voices, then slowly quiet everything down.
As it gets calm, say together: “We can trust God. God gives us peace.”
Explain that trusting God helps calm our hearts, just like the storm calming down.
Prayer
God, when we feel worried or stormy inside, help us trust You. Thank You for giving us Your perfect peace. Amen.
Baptisms & the Gospel - Feb 15
Come, join in, learn about the gospel, and watch people get baptised!
Why not invite a friend, it’ll be a great way to introduce them to church!
Peace Week 4 - Feb 22 – Being Peacemakers
Scripture: Romans 14:19 (NIRV)
“Let us do all we can to live in peace… and build up one another.”
Talk About It
Ask your child:
What made you smile at church this week?
Who is a friend you’d like to spend more time with?
If someone asked you, “What is a peacemaker?” what would you say?
Try This at Home
Together, think of one way your family can be peacemakers this week — using kind words, sharing, forgiving, or helping someone.
Celebrate when you notice your child choosing peace.
Prayer
God, help us live in peace and build others up. Show us how to be kind, loving peacemakers like Jesus. Amen.
