May topics for Tots and Pebbles
Our series coming up in May is all about David and how he had a heart for God.
You can repeat the scripture and the key question at home to help the topic sink in.
The key scripture this month is Titus 3:1 “…be ready to do what is good.”
The key question is: How can your heart match God’s heart? “I get to know God!”
Over the next 5 weeks, here are some really cute ways to engage with the topic at home:
Week 1 - 27th of April
David knew God, so he knew the truth about God. David was ready to do good and stand up for God. He heard Goliath tell lies about God. That’s why he fought Goliath!
You’ll need: Paper and stuffed animals
Crumple the paper into a ball.
Pretend the stuffed animal is Goliath, and you’re David.
Throw the crumpled paper at Goliath.
Make the stuffed animal fall over, and celebrate God’s power.
Week 2 - 4th of May
When you get to know God, your heart starts to match His heart. And when your heart matches God’s heart, you’re ready to do good things for God!
you’ll need: a container and some small items to fill the container
Get ready to do good by praying, reading the Bible verse, and singing a song to God.
Each time you catch your kid doing something good, let them put a small item into the container.
When the container is full, celebrate having a heart that
Week 3 - 11th of May

Here is some info on baptisms and how to talk about it with your kids
Week 5 - 25th of May
God’s heart is full of everything that’s good! And when you choose to follow Jesus and fill your heart with good things, your heart grows to match God’s heart!
Chat to God together, tell God that you want your heart to match his. Parents, you can model this using your words and that can help your kids. Here are some tips:
Sit together and take a biiiiig breath and allow your bodies to get really still
Put your hands out as if you are going to receive a gift from God
Remember God loves to give good gifts to his children!
Chat to God like you would to a friend or a father, just say ‘God, I want your heart’ or ‘help my heart match yours!’ then wait (even just a few seconds).
Ask God to give you good ideas for how to do good for him and for others
Ask the kids if they felt anything or thought of anything
Share anything you felt and thought of
If this whole thing lasts just minutes, that’s fine! your kids connect to God just as they and God loves to connect with them through play and fun, he made them and welcomes them!
