May - Rocks and Geodes
We have been exploring Jesus on the cross for the last few weeks and it’s been a great way to look at God’s design for us, how we can choose his way and his eternal gift and loving sacrifice!
A great book resource showing this full story of God’s creation and the cross is: The Garden, the Curtain and the Cross
In May (and April 27th), we will be exploring the Church of Jesus! It’s going to be a great ride.
We will explore these 4 aspects of the church. How has the church been these things for you? think about it and share it with your children.
Each week, there will be a scripture and an ‘I wonder’ question that you can use to chat with your kids. Using ‘I wonder’ helps your kids chat and explore opennly without it being a ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ answer. Sharing your personal story is so powerful parents so don’t be afraid to share what Church means for you in the different contexts.
April 27th - We are the body of Christ
🕊️ read 1 Corinthians 12:12-27 together
🕊️ I wonder what it would be like if different body parts didn’t want to do their job?
🕊️ think of examples of people in church doing different roles so that things function well.
🕊️ explore what that looks like outside of church. God uses us as his hands and feet!
May 4th - The Church is a family
👨👩👧👦 Read Hebrews 10:22-25
👨👩👧👦 God calls us to be a family of believers together, to not stop meeting together, to prioritize each other and spur each other on!
👨👩👧👦 I wonder if there is someone in God’s family we can encourage and ‘spur on’ today?
👨👩👧👦 I wonder how we can honour the family of God by our Sunday worship?
May 11th - The Church is a hospital
🏥Read Luke 4:18-21 together
🏥God has put his Spirit in you and called us to do what he did!
🏥I wonder if there is anyone we know that we can be a blessing to, to pray or bring food to or help?
May 18th - All-age service
This is an all-age service!
Here is some great tips for how to engage with an all age service
Here is some info on baptisms and how to talk about it with your kids
May 25th - The Church is an army
⚔️ Read Acts 16:16–40 – Paul and Silas in prison
Paul and Silas are arrested for casting out a demon and disturbing the peace.
⚔️ I wonder what ways were they fighting in the spirit?
Despite physical chains, they wage spiritual warfare—praying and singing hymns at midnight. God responds with an earthquake that opens prison doors. They have victory in the end, not just escape, but salvation comes to the jailer and his household. Through praise and worship, they took ground for God’s kingdom!
