Three Book Recommendations For CV Leaders

7 Things I Wish Christians Knew about the Bible: Amazon.co.uk: Bird, Michael F.: 0025986538859: Books
There is much debate today about how we should actually read the bible. There is a lot of guff out there but you can't get much better guide than this one by Michael Bird. I listened to the audio version which was quite short, super clear and even a bit fun!

Bullies and Saints: An Honest Look at the Good and Evil of Christian History: Amazon.co.uk: Dickson, John: 0025986119379: Books
It can be so helpful to get out of our century and learn from the greats, and the not-so-great Christians in history. This is a frank analysis which you should find incredibly illuminating if, at times, really uncomfortable. It will also equip you to work out how to speak about bad things Christians have done in the past and will give you some new heroes of the faith who inspire you to live even more for Jesus.

The Case Against the Sexual Revolution: A New Guide to Sex in the 21st Century: Amazon.co.uk: Perry, Louise: 9781509549993: Books
This one comes with a health warning; it deals with explicit content and it isn't written by a Christian. But if you are looking for someone who is analysing what is actually happening behind the façade of our culture's advocacy of sex then this is a super-helpful book. The chapter titles tell you what you'll get: “Sex Must Be Taken Seriously” (chap. 1), “Men and Women Are Different” (chap. 2), “Some Desires Are Bad” (chap. 3). “Marriage is Good” (chap. 8) and “Listen to Your Mother” (conclusion)
