Leader's Story - Contending For Accommodation

“Back in March, with two guys from the church, we were looking for a  house together. We had been praying and going to see different places for a long time and it was really hard. Then we saw this house on a Sunday and we really loved it - it was like ‘this is the place’ and we were excited about it. When I got home I went to check on the website about how to to put a deposit down and what was the holding process but it was very confusing so I sent them a message saying, ‘how do I do this?’  but on the Monday morning I woke up and the house was gone!  Somebody else had to put a holding deposit and it was no longer available.  I was like, ‘but they didn't even reply to me to help me about how to do it’. So I sent them a message saying ‘this is what happened, should we stop waiting for this house? Are we just out of the picture now?’ and they replied, ‘we started the process with these people and now that I know you're interested you'll be the next in line if it doesn't work out ‘ So we started praying and started looking for other places as well but the other places couldn't quite match.

So I remember on the Thursday after, I was at work and I was coming out from the unit, ungowning in the changing room, and I started praying to the Lord because in my spirit I couldn't let go. I was like, ‘this is the house - I can't let go, God what do I do here? Do I say I want this house or do I say Lord help me let go of this house?’ But in the end I prayed, “God I want that house so if it's not ours it's not going to be anyone else's, so you give us the house!" I know it's quite unorthodox but I that’s what I prayed at about 4 in the afternoon. By 4.20 I had a message from the landlord saying, ‘the other people fell through so can you get your details to start referencing you guys.’ Now we have moved - we are in the house!  I don't know if it was that prayer in particular,  I don't know if it was the first prayers that we prayed, but I know God did something, and I know it's a blessing, and I know that He gave it to us.  This is an example of interceding for anything, anywhere, anytime and sometimes things will happen like that…"  Sal
