Psalm 26
This week’s Song To Live By is Psalm 26
Tina writes:
In this Psalm, we see David longing for holiness and the purity of God.
In my life, there are times I long for God’s holiness, but there are other times when I fear God’s holiness. Maybe I fear it on those days when I am more aware of my failings.
But here we see David push in to God’s presence, we see him longing for right living, and wanting to worship God in every area. He is calling out for the righteous judge to see him and be with him. This shows an utter trust in the character of God. God is good and his plans for us and for the world are good. He is totally trustworthy and just as our judge. and on top of that, he can help us when we fall short.
He sent his son to save us while we were still sinners and he sent the Holy Spirit to live in us and help us in our weakness. What a judge! Trustworthy, just, good and the only one who gives salvation to all who seek it.
I want to be more like David, I want to pursue holiness in God’s presence. To seek to live each day in holiness before our righteous judge, knowing I can call out for help when I fall short and God will gently lead me on his path of righteousness.
A Prayer
Lord, your holiness inspires awe and fear in me but I trust in you. Help me walk in your ways, help me become more like you. Thank you for declaring me innocent through the sacrifice Jesus made. Help me live a life of worship and gratitude and help me always remember the radical gift of righteous standing you gave me. I thank you that through Jesus, I stand on solid ground and I will praise your name, Lord
