Croydon Vineyard Kids – Parent Take-Home Plan
Series: Our Values – Living God’s Good News Together
Key Verse: “You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” — 1 Peter 2:9
At Croydon Vineyard Kids, we’re beginning a journey to live out and celebrate our new Kids’ Values. These values help our children understand that following Jesus is joyful, fun, and deeply relational. We want every child to feel connected, loved, and excited about being part of God’s story.
This term, we’ll be exploring six values that shape how we live together as God’s family:
We Welcome Well
We Have Fun
We Follow Jesus
We Meet God
We are Kind
We Do the Stuff
These values aren’t just nice ideas — they are how we show God’s love in action, at church, at home, and at school.
Parents, you are your child’s greatest influence. Every conversation, every prayer, and every shared activity helps plant seeds of faith. Get stuck in — have fun with the games, share your own thoughts in the “I wonder” questions, and pray together. God delights in these small moments with your family.
Week 1 – We Welcome Well (Mark 10:13–16)
Big Idea: Jesus welcomes everyone — and so can we!
At Home Activity – Welcome Challenge
Together, make a list of ways you can show welcome (a smile, a kind word, sharing a snack, inviting someone to play).
Role play welcoming each other as if it’s the first time you’ve met — try it with silly voices or in slow motion!
Talk about how Jesus welcomed children and how we can reflect that.
I Wonder…: “How does it feel when someone welcomes you really well?”
Prayer: “Jesus, thank You that You welcome us with open arms. Help us welcome others like You do.”
Week 2 – We Have Fun (John 10:7–11)
Big Idea: Jesus came to give us life to the full — and that includes joy and fun!
At Home Activity – Joy Hunt
Go on a “joy hunt” around your home or neighbourhood.
Each person points out something that makes them smile or laugh.
Afterwards, thank God for those gifts of fun.
I Wonder…: “Why do you think fun is important to God?”
Prayer: “God, thank You for laughter, games, and joy. Help us enjoy Your good gifts every day.”
Week 3 – We Follow Jesus (Luke 5:1–11)
Big Idea: Following Jesus means trusting Him and choosing His way.
At Home Activity – Follow the Leader Remix
Play a version of “Follow the Leader.”
Add twists like: whispering, hopping, or pretending you’re fishing like the disciples.
Talk about how it feels to follow and why we need to trust the leader.
I Wonder…: “What’s one way you can follow Jesus this week?”
Prayer: “Jesus, thank You for inviting me to follow You. Help me trust You and listen to Your voice.”
Week 4 – We Meet God (Exodus 34:29–35 & Acts 2:1–4)
Big Idea: God meets with His people — when Moses met God on the mountain, his face shone with God’s glory, and at Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came like wind and fire. God still meets with us today!
At Home Activity
turn the lights off and use a torch to shine on each person’s face. Remind your kids of how Moses’ face shone after he met God.
I Wonder…: “What do you think it would feel like if your face shone after meeting with God?”
I Wonder…: “what it means if God’s powerful Holy Spirit is inside us?”
Prayer: “Holy Spirit, thank You that You are with us. Help us notice Your presence in our lives.”
Week 5 – We Are Kind (The Good Samaritan, Luke 10:25–37)
Big Idea: Kindness shows God’s love to others.
At Home Activity – Kindness Chain
Cut strips of paper and write one kind thing you can do each day (e.g., help set the table, write a kind note, share a toy).
Make a paper chain and break one off each day as a reminder.
I Wonder…: “How can one small act of kindness make a big difference?”
Prayer: “God, thank You for showing us kindness first. Help me be kind to people around me.”
Week 6 – We Do the Stuff (The Great Commission, Mark 16:15)
Big Idea: Jesus invites us to share His good news and join His mission.
At Home Activity – News Spreaders
Pretend you are news reporters spreading the “Good News” of Jesus.
Use a toy microphone (or a spoon!) to announce: “Jesus loves you!” “God’s Kingdom is here!”
Talk about how we can share God’s love in real life.
I Wonder…: “Who could I share God’s good news with this week?”
Prayer: “Jesus, thank You that You trust us to share Your good news. Give us courage to do the stuff You did.”
🌟 Wrap-Up
These six weeks of values help shape our kids into followers of Jesus who:
Welcome others with open arms
Find joy and fun in God’s family
Follow Jesus wholeheartedly
Meet with God in real ways
Show kindness to everyone
Step out boldly to do God’s work
Parents — thank you for leading the way at home. Your joy, curiosity, and faith are contagious. As you laugh, play, wonder, and pray with your kids, you’re showing them what it looks like to live God’s good news every day.
