Jue Theme: Leadership in God's Kingdom
(“Rocks & Geodes” Curriculum)

We’re excited to be digging into what it means to be a leader in God's Kingdom—and just like geodes, true leaders might look ordinary on the outside but hold hidden strength and beauty within. This isn't about being the loudest or most popular, but about being servant-hearted, brave, full of the Spirit, and encouragers of others—just like Jesus.

This month, we’ll explore four powerful stories that show how God's leaders are different from the world’s idea of fame, titles, and spotlight. You can keep the conversation going at home with some simple reflection and shared stories of what leadership looks like in your own family.

🐑 WEEK 1 – Jesus is a Shepherd (April 27)

📖 Read: John 10:11–18
Jesus called Himself the Good Shepherd. He leads by knowing us, loving us, and laying down His life—not with a crown or big title, but by protecting and caring for us.

💬 Try this at home:
“I wonder what kind of leader you’d follow—what do you look for in someone who leads?”
Talk about leaders in your life who love and serve like Jesus. Parents, share a time when leading looked more like serving.

đŸ§Œ WEEK 2 – Jesus Washes Feet (May 4)

📖 Read: John 13:1–17
Jesus, the Son of God, got down on His knees and washed His disciples' feet. The world says leaders should be served. Jesus flipped that idea upside down.

💬 At home chat:
“I wonder what it feels like to serve someone else—even when it’s not fun or noticed?”
Try serving together as a family—maybe by doing someone else's chore, writing an encouraging note, or preparing a meal.

đŸ”„ WEEK 3 – The Disciples Receive Power (May 11)

📖 Read: Acts 2:1–13
After Jesus returned to heaven, His followers received the Holy Spirit! This turned them from scared and quiet to bold and powerful—ready to lead, serve, and tell everyone about Jesus.

💬 Family Reflection:
“I wonder what God's Spirit gives us power to do today?”
Talk about ways your family can shine God’s love or tell someone about Jesus this week.

Spend some time asking Jesus to fill you with his Spirit, you can put out your hands to show you want to receive and wait on him after asking. Some signs of God’s presense are feeling peace, speaking in tongues, knowing God’s presence around you, understanding God’s word more and more!

đŸ€ WEEK 4 – Barnabas Encourages Saul (May 25)

📖 Read: Acts 9:26–31
Everyone was afraid of Saul—until Barnabas stepped in to encourage and stand with him. Sometimes leadership looks like standing up for someone when no one else will.

💬 Home Conversation Starter:
“I wonder how encouragement can change someone’s life?”
Practice encouraging each other out loud this week. Who could you encourage in school or church?

🧡 Tips for Parents:

  • “I wonder” questions help your kids open up without feeling like there's a right answer.

  • Sharing a short personal story of when you had to lead, serve, or encourage someone can deeply connect with your child.

  • Keep it playful, simple, and open-ended—kids lead well when they feel safe to be real.

Let’s raise a generation of leaders who look like Jesus—full of kindness, servant hearted, couragous, and marked by the Holy Spirit! Thanks for journeying with us in Kingdom leadership.
