Step 1

Try it out!

We love that you are interested in being a part of the Youth Team! Our main connection point with the young people is in our Sunday sessions so the first step is giving it a try. Have some fun getting to know the youth, the team and the general rhythms of a Sunday morning in Magnify or Alyve Youth.

Read our Croydon Vineyard values, especially #2 to get a vision for how we want to raise sons and daughters of a living God! And read the ‘what to expect’ so you can feel prepared when you come on the day.

If you’ve completed step 1 and you think you’d still love to be a part of the team, that’s amazing! Now you can move on to step 2 :)

Step 2

Get to know the basics

We have some basic documents that will help orient you as you get to know the youth team and how it all works. Please read through each one before moving on to step 3.

STEP 3

Safeguarding & DBS Check

As a church, we are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for our youth and families and also for you as team members. Each volunteer is required to have a DBS check done in order for them to be a part of the team. Below you will find a DBS sign up form that you can use to start the DBS process. Please complete it within one month, and no later than 3 months, after joining the team.

Here is a safeguarding training video that needs to be viewed by each team member and reviewed by everyone at least once a year. We also have a safeguarding concerns form that can be found on our safeguarding page. Any team member or member of the church can use this at any time. This is a way for you to report anything that you see that you think may be of concern.

step 4

Resourcing and Training

We create training videos and provide links to monthly content that can be helpful for you as you join in on the glorious task of raising sons and daughters for God. Each month, the Sunday teams watch through the new training video (3-5mins) together. Here are a few previous videos which would be helpful to watch so that you have context for what we’re doing. I’d particularly recommend you watch the video ‘What does it mean to be on the youth team?’ below.

If you enjoy podcasts, why not listen to the YouthScape podcast? It’s a regular podcast of youth leader inspiration. Hosts Rachel Gardner and Martin Saunders talk faith, church and culture with brilliant guests from the world of youth work, the wider church and beyond

DTI: Dreaming the Impossible is a National Youth Organisation run through the Vineyard which runs a national youth festival and resources youth groups and young people throughout the year. Check out their Youth Leader’s Library with resources and courses for youth leaders and young people.
