Dave Prothero - Trustee
Dave Prothero is one of our CV trustees. Here is a bit about him and what his role involves.
“I've been a trustee for the last four years or so, with a brief which includes liaising with Lesley about Safeguarding plus interacting with Croydon and 'influential people'! (The newly elected mayor gets two months grace and then we need to talk...)
During my life I've worked across the field of education encompassing primary headships, lecturing, working as an education officer in a London Borough plus a number of interim headships, all before retirement. I currently work very part-time with Roehampton University mentoring and assessing BA and PGCE primary students when they're on teaching practice. I'm also a trustee and currently Vice Chair of the Tandridge Learning Trust.
As such, my weeks are made up of an ever-changing blend of meetings, work in schools, the gym, walking and Vineyard worship & fellowship, plus travel, getting away on the canals and sailing.
I love so many aspects of Vineyard from Sunday worship, Welcome Team, Prayer at Noon, Vineyard English School and not forgetting our lovely house group (a very special place where I can laugh, learn and pray in a very personal & safe space). Coming to and being part of Vineyard has been a constant revelation to me with its levels of friendship, fellowship, spiritual challenge and self-development.
I mentioned challenge and most recently I've been struck by the need for me to continue to develop patience in almost every respect. So often I oscillate between showing levels of super patience through to expecting people (and objects) to just respond far too quickly - it's a work in progress.
So, there you have it, Vineyard as a star shining so brightly in my life. I hope it will continue to shine in all our lives and spread it's light progressively across Croydon, where the needs are so great and where we have just so much to offer.”
