Contending For A Spiritual Awakening
Right from the planting of this church in 2013 the Lord has urged us to focus on people outside of our community; to invite all kinds of people to Come to Life in Jesus. By doing this, over the last 10 years we have grown from a small group of 12 to a church of over 300. Jesus has brought very many people to life in his love.
After COVID we felt the Lord told us to press on a slightly different pedal; to very intentionally re-establish the church as a community centred on Jesus, filled with his Spirit, expressing to one another the love of the Father. This wasn’t anything new - we have always sought to do this - but the amount of focus we gave it was perhaps greater than we had done before. This deliberate focus has been incredibly fruitful; our family has not only grown in strength and become re-established as a genuine Spirit-filled community, but we have also grown significantly in number.
Now we feel the time is right to press more deliberately on the pedal of outreach. We feel God inviting us to contend for a spiritual awakening across all of our borough and beyond. Our sense is that this is a real call to battle - a battle that will require hard work for the long haul. But our sense is that the spoils of this battle will be a move of God in our town beyond anything we have seen before. We feel like we - as leaders - are being invited to begin to pray for a historic move of God in Croydon, with ripples spreading all across the globe. We know God is able. Prayer shifts things. What we speak to the Lord in the secret place shifts destinies and opens wide doors.
We would love you to be a leader who contends for this mighty battle in prayer. As part of this call to prayer we are getting on board with Vineyard Churches 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting which is running in January. As a church we will particularly focus on a week of prayer and fasting from Sunday 15th Jan to Saturday 22 Jan. We will send out a specific invite and more information on this in the next few weeks.
