"prayer in the gym"

“After reading the book How To Worship A King, I understood that we are priests. God has appointed us to set up meeting places where people can encounter Jesus like priests used to do in the Old Testament. They were appointed to set up a ‘tent of meeting’. So I would often pray that I’d set up a “tent of meeting” for someone during my day.

While I was at my gym, I got talking to one of the trainers. He was sharing his story: passion for football, working towards becoming a semi - professional footballer and his life journey so far. It’s a pretty deep conversation in a gym right!?

After a while, I recognised God’s presence and knew there was a word he wanted me to share with him. In my head I was thinking, “I’m not ready to share this, I don’t know this person, how will he respond!?”. I remember also feeling a great pressure and weight to release all that God wanted me to tell him.

As he continued to talk it just got to a stage where I really couldn’t hold it in any longer without him thinking there was something wrong with me. So I stopped him in his tracks and began to say all the things that I knew God wanted to tell him.

He was absolutely stunned! So stunned in fact that he dropped to his knees with his arms opened wide in a surrendered position. I laid my hand on him and began to pray. In the middle of the gym, God had set up a meeting place and it was absolutely astonishing to witness.

Afterwards, he thanked me and asked me how he could connect with Jesus. I shared a few simple tips with him and brought him to church.

I share this testimony because I believe It is an encouragement to every believer. If you are a Child of God, then you are also a priest (worshipper). This means you are appointed to set up places for people, Christians and non-Christians, to meet with God. It may not look or be as random as my experience but it is the call that is on all of our lives. God has given us the power and authority to do his work so let’s walk in it!”
