"Father God loves me"

Psalm 103:13 ‘The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him’

”Over the years there have been occasions when I have had a fresh insight into how God is a father to me. The first of these came when my son was born some years ago. For the first time I had a father’s-eye-view. This little bundle was completely dependent on Mum & Dad. How much love we had for the little chap – I had not experienced this kind of love before. I had a bigger understanding of how Father God loves me.

Just two years ago, my earthly father passed away and once again I had a new appreciation of what ‘father’ meant. I realised then how much I had taken my Dad for granted. Reflecting on my life – and his – helped me understand how much he had invested in me – the many sacrifices he had made. Just as my heavenly Father has for me.

And then just a couple of weeks ago I became a grandfather (for the third time). Those paternal feelings returned – the joy and delight in a new life, a sense of wanting to protect, the desire that my grandson will do well. All of this has helped me understand that God is for me.”
