"I felt God so close to me"

“One of the Sundays in December, I came to church feeling totally despondent.

I was due to be on team for worship and felt like pulling out last minute as I didn't know if I had it in me to worship God. I've been going through a time of crisis but I made it to the service despite how I felt.

As the service started and we began to pray, there was a massive sense of God's presence and peace. It cut through me and I felt it in my very core.

As we were worshipping, towards the end of our set, Tom came forward and gave a prophetic word for anyone who felt hopeless and like God had deserted them - well that certainly felt like me.

Tears began streaming down my face which Tom also referenced (not terribly convenient as I was stood on the stage in front of everyone!) as I felt God so close to me.

When Andy Brims preached, every word he said I could relate to. The passage he preached on - Romans 8:35-39 - is my very favourite Bible passage and he also referenced Ephesians 3:18, another important verse to me.

By the end of the service, I felt a sense of total peace and that God was with me - He sees me, He knows my situation and is with me in it.

I haven't felt Him all too close recently but was powerfully reminded of His presence that Sunday. That same weekend we had also seen some dear friends who had shared a similar experience to what I was currently going through.

I feel so seen by God and although a storm rages on, knowing He is with me has been a huge comfort. I pray that if you are feeling this way too, that you would know that very same peace.”
