Vineyard Churches UK and Ireland is a global movement of churches that exists to participate in the advancement of the Kingdom of God through the work of local Vineyard churches that communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ in word and practise. We often summarise this mission as: Preach the Gospel, Plant (and develop) Churches, Change the World.
Croydon Vineyard is one of over 100 churches nationwide. We gather together for larger events; support each other; and share resources.
In all that we do in the Vineyard, we look to the example of Jesus who fulfilled his ministry in both word and deed; things he said and things he did.
Matthew 4:23-25 says: ‘Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.’ We would describe this as ‘word and works’, one without the other is incomplete. Jesus proclaimed the word of the Lord and did the deeds of the Lord. One of our highest values in the Vineyard is that each person does their own part in Kingdom work. We preach the gospel, pray for the sick, feed the hungry and clothe the naked, and do all of this in a Naturally Supernatural way.
These are all acts of service, and is simply the local church at work. Our persistent goal is to see what God is doing and then join in. As Jesus said ‘the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.’ (John 5:19. NIV). The mission of the church is the continuation of the ministry of Jesus; so we actively train and equip people to preach the gospel and to feed the hungry, pray for the sick and to do all that we saw Jesus do in the Bible.
