"God gave the kids a message for me"

“We recently ran an online course for school years 5 & 6 during the week called Extreme Disciples. This series was all about how God speaks to us and how we can listen and receive from him for others (prophecy).

One week we practiced asking Jesus to give us a picture of something and asking him what it means for different people. The kids were absolutely brilliant and took brave steps to try it and receive from Jesus and share it with the other kids.

At the end of the session, they were given a challenge (set by Tom) to ask God during the week for something for me and tell me at our next meeting. That was a Tuesday evening, by Sunday I’d forgotten about it but I was doing some setup before the service and one of the young people who was attending the course approached me and said God had given them a message for me.

They said they got a picture of a joker and that it meant I was loads of fun, super funny and always laughing and helping other people have a good time. It was such a fun picture and made me so happy. I really want our kids to have a great time at church and want them to know God’s goodness and joy so hearing that was so encouraging but also seeing that she took the plunge to learn something new, listened to God and stepped out to share it with me was so precious.

Jesus can speak through us no matter how old we are and it’s so exciting to see our kids say ‘YES’ to opportunities to grow in their faith and discipleship. It makes me want to say ‘YES!’ too.”
